Film History

It is hard to think of one specific movie that I can consider making an impact in my life, though one movie did stand out. 50/50 was a movie that opened up my eyes at a crucial time in my life. 50/50 (directed by Jonathan Levine and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogan, and Anna Kendrick) is a movie about a 27-year-old guy who is diagnosed with brain cancer. The movie was released in late September of 2011 and a year prior to that I had just finished going through two months of radiation therapy for my brain cancer. A coincidence was that this movie came out when it did. I only then started going out with friends and of course I had to see this movie. I was one of the first in line to watch it, and when the movie finished I felt like I wasn't alone. It was amazing how mine and the character's experiences were so alike. Since that day I have been able to accept what I had to go through and realized that I'm not alone. I wish that no one else would have to deal with that struggle and illness, but unfortunately it happens. My best advice is to stay strong.
